Fan tries to attack Sandra Bullock's husband

Hello, I'm Rebecca Field with a UPI entertainment update on this Friday, April 27, 2007.

Sandra Bullock's husband Jesse James is safe after a woman tried to kill him with her car. Police say James found the suspect lying on their driveway over the weekend in front of their southern California home. When he asked her to leave the woman got in her vehicle and tried to run him over several times. James was not hit or injured. The attacker has apparently stalked Bullock in the past. The suspect was arrested soon after and faces charges for assault with a deadly weapon.

Last night's 2007 Billboard Latin Music Awards honored the biggest stars in the Latin Music industry. Singer Mariano Barba grabbed the award for top song of the year. Mexican pop singer Paulina Rubio opened the show and won two awards for her album "Ananda." Other winners included Columbian star Shakira and rapper Wycelf Jean. They took best duet for their hit "Hips Don't Lie." And Singer Miguel Bose received the lifetime achievement award for his 30 years in the industry.

Actress and activist Angelina Jolie is calling for more aid to help orphans globally. People magazine says she spoke in Washington DC yesterday, announcing the launch of the Global Action for Children organization. The group pushes for more U.S. funding for orphans in developing countries. Jolie, who has 3 adopted children of her own, says the U.S. should look at orphans as an opportunity, not a burden.

Actor Alec Baldwin is apologizing for that angry voicemail he left his daughter Ireland. In a taped interview for ABC's "The View"...scheduled to air later today... Baldwin says he's sorry for taking his anger out on the wrong person. He and his ex Kim Basinger have been in a bitter custody battle for years. The actor also says he has asked to be released from his contract for the show "30 Rock" so his actions won't reflect negatively on the program's reputation.

Rapper Eve is facing charges for driving under the influence. Police say she was arrested in Hollywood early Tuesday morning after she crashed her car into a cement divider. People magazine reports she was heading back from a nightclub with two passengers...luckily no one was injured. The rapper's manager reportedly posted 30,000 dollars bail and she was released a couple hours after the arrest.
